Lords Spiritual (Women) Bill: Lords third reading

12 March 2015

The Lords Spiritual (Women) Bill will have its third reading, a final chance to 'tidy up' the bill, in the Lords on Thursday 12 March.

Lords committee stage: Thursday 26 February

Lords second reading: Thursday 12 February

Members discussed the key points of the bill, which, for the next 10 years, would mean any vacancy among the Lords spiritual in the House would be filled by the most senior female diocesan bishop available. If there were no eligible female bishops, the vacancy would be filled by the most senior male diocesan bishop.

Committee stage, a chance for line-by-line scrutiny, is yet to be scheduled.
