Statement on EU Council and Nuclear Security Summit: 26 March 2014

Prime Minister, David Cameron, made a statement in the House of Commons on Wednesday 26 March 2014 on the recent European Union Council meetings which took place on 20-21 March 2014 and the Nuclear Security Summit which took place on 24-25 March 2014.

Ed Miliband, the Leader of the Labour Party, responded to the statement on behalf of the Opposition.

The European Council defines the general political direction and priorities of the European Union. The European Council consists of the Heads of State or Government of the 27 Member States, together with its President and the President of the Commission.

Nuclear Security Summit

The Nuclear Security Summit 2014 is a world summit, aimed at preventing nuclear terrorism around the globe.

The Netherlands hosted the Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague on 24 and 25 March 2014.
