MPs pay tribute to Tony Benn

MPs paid tribute to the Rt Hon Tony Benn in the House of Commons on Thursday 20 March 2014.

Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, began the tributes, followed by the Shadow Deputy Prime Minister, Harriet Harman. Other MPs from all sides of the House also paid their tributes.

Chapel of St Mary Undercroft

At the end of the tributes, Mr Speaker informed the House that Her Majesty has agreed that Tony Benn’s coffin will be brought to the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft, the crypt chapel, on Wednesday afternoon next to rest overnight before being taken to St Margaret’s church for his funeral service.

Following the announcement of the death of Tony Benn, the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Rt Hon John Bercow MP, announced that after Question Time on Thursday 20 March 2014, tributes to Mr Benn would be taken.
