King of the Belgians visits UK Parliament

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the UK Parliament today.

They were welcomed on arrival at the Palace of Westminster by Black Rod.

Accompanied by the Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Didier Reynders, they then met Commons Speaker, John Bercow MP, and the Lord Speaker, Baroness D'Souza. They discussed the workings of the UK parliamentary system and, in particular, how the two Houses work together and manage disagreements over legislation.
