Conservative life peer, Lord Campbell of Alloway, has died, aged 96. He was the oldest sitting member of the House of Lords.
The former judge and barrister joined the Lords in June 1981. He was a Crown Court recorder between 1976 and 1979.
Since this time he was involved in nine Lords committees. He most recently brought his legal knowledge to the Statutory Instruments, Draft Legal Services Bill, Draft Constitutional Renewal Bill and Human Rights joint committees.
