Former Labour cabinet minister, Newscastle MP and oldest member of the House of Lords died aged 99 on Friday 4 May.
Lord Glenamara became a life peer of the Lords in January 1977 after a long parliamentary career in the Commons. His roles in the Commons included deputy leader of the Labour party, leader of the House, Secretary of State for Education and Science, and government chief whip.
As a former teacher Lord Glenamara was committed to making education accessible to all.
Lord Glenamara was the oldest member of the House of Lords.
