Death of Lord St John of Fawsley announced

The death of Norman St John-Stevas, Lord St John of Fawsley, has been announced. The Conservative life peer died on 5 March aged 82

Lord St John of Fawsley became a life peer in October 1987.

Before becoming a peer Lord St John of Fawsley served as a Conservative MP, and as a cabinet minister under Prime Minister Edward Heath and also Margaret Thatcher until 1981. During his time in the House of Commons he set up the select committee system which checks and reports the work of government.
