MPs debate Somalia

Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, William Hague, moved a debate in the House of Commons on Thursday 9 February on Somalia.

Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Douglas Alexander, responded in the debate on behalf of the Opposition.

Somalia

The Foreign Affairs Select Committee published on 5 January 2012 a report into piracy off the coast of Somalia.

The House of Commons Library have produced a briefing paper on recent political, security and humanitarian issues in Somalia.

Debates

Debates are an opportunity for MPs to discuss government policy, proposed new laws and current issues. It allows MPs to voice the concerns and interests of their constituents.
