Labour life peer, Lord Ashley of Stoke, died on 20 April aged 89.
Lord Ashley was a Labour MP for Stoke on Trent for 16 years until he was made a life peer in the House of Lords in 1992.
He was the first deaf MP and tirelessly campaigned for deaf and disabled people during his time at parliament. As a peer he questioned the government and scrutinised legislation and policies on disability, mental health and domestic violence issues.
