Opposition day debate on sentencing

Shadow Secretary of State for Justice, Sadiq Khan, moved an Opposition Day Debate in the House of Commons on Monday 23 May on the Government's proposed changes to the maximum discount for custodial sentences

MPs discussed Government proposals to discount sentences of up to 50% for those who plead guilty.

Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, Kenneth Clarke, responded on behalf of the Government.
