Urgent Question on Building Schools for the Future

15 February 2011

Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove, responded to an urgent question asked by John Cryer, Labour MP for Leyton and Wanstead, on the subject of the Building Schools for the Future project.

John Cryer asked the Secretary of State for Education: 'if he will make a statement on his assessment of the High Court ruling on Friday to the effect that the decision to cancel the Building Schools for the Future programme in Waltham Forest and other areas was illegal.'

Urgent questions

Urgent questions are asked at the end of Question Time. If something has happened, usually a matter of public importance, which an MP believes requires an immediate answer from a government minister, he may apply to the Speaker to ask an urgent question.

If the Speaker agrees, the question will be asked at the end of Question Time.
