Debate: Lobbying and access and influence in Whitehall

08 January 2010

Dr Tony Wright MP, Chairman of the Public Administration Select Committee, opened a debate in Westminister Hall on the Committee's report on lobbying and access and influence in Whitehall, and the Government's response. Angela Smith, Minister of State at the Cabinet Office, responded to the debate

Westminster Hall adjournment debates allow MPs to consider issues of local or personal interest which rarely have time to be debated in the main Chamber of the House of Commons. MPs can discuss a variety of issues and receive a response from a government Minister.

On Thursdays, the sitting consists of a single debate, either on a topic chosen by the Government or on a report - as on this occasion -from a select committee.
