House of Lords on the Pre-Budget Report 2009

Financial Services Secretary, Lord Myners, opened the debate on the Pre-Budget Report 2009 in the House of Lords on 16 December

Members of the Lords with experience of and expertise in economic and financial affairs contributed to the discussion which covered the recession, the direction and long-term growth of the economy, public expenditure plans, unemployment, the budget deficit, bankers' bonuses and taxation.

In the House of Lords Members may table questions for debate, usually up to two hours and a half, on a specific issue or matter of concern. A minister responds on behalf of the Government.
