Amendments (proposals for change) discussed included clauses (parts) 1-7 of the Bill.

During committee stage every suggested change to the Bill can be discussed and every clause of the Bill has to be agreed to. Any Member of the Lords can take part and votes can happen.

The second day of committee stage takes place on 10 June.

The Government Bill would change the law on a range of issues - from the use of juries in inquests to inciting hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation.
