Automobile Assistance Programme inquiry continues

10 June 2009

Business and Enterprise Committee holds an evidence session at 2pm examining the Government’s support package to the car industry, the Automotive Assistance Programme

Giving evidence will be Ian Pearson MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform and representatives from Unite the Union.

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform launched the Automotive Assistance Programme on 27 January 2009.

The scheme will be open to projects of over £5 million from UK based car and car component manufacturers with an annual turnover of £25 million plus and is intended to free up lending of more than £2 billion over two years to ensure that major UK based low-carbon investment projects are not abandoned or relocated.
