DRAFT COMMISSIONER FOR OLDER PEOPLE (WALES) BILL
Oral evidence session
The Welsh Affairs Committee will take oral evidence from Don Touhig MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Wales on the Draft Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill. The evidence will be from 10.45 am Tuesday 5 April at the House of Commons.
The draft bill aims to establish a Commissioner for Older People in Wales who would be statutorily independent and whose aim would be to promote and safeguard the interests of older people in Wales and to challenge discrimination against older people. The Bill was published on 22 March 2005 as Cm 6498. This is available at http://www.walesoffice.gov.uk/bill_20050322.pdf or from the Stationery Office Bookshops (telephone orders: 0870 600 5522).
The meeting will be open to the public and will take place in a Committee Room either in the Palace of Westminster or in Portcullis. Those wishing to attend should confirm the venue by calling the House of Commons Committee Information Line on 020 7219 2033 on the day before the hearing.
