THE PROVISION OF RAILWAY SERVICES IN WALES

The Committee conducted a follow up inquiry to the Transport in Wales Report, published on Tuesday 14 January (Second Report, 2002-03, HC 205), and the Government’s response, published on 2 April 2003 (Second Special Report, 2002-03, HC 580).

The inquiry concentrated on the provision of rail services within Wales and between Wales and England; investment in rail infrastructure in Wales; the allocation of powers between the National Assembly for Wales and the UK Government; and the process for the award of the new Wales and Borders franchise.

The Committee published its report: The Provision of Rail Services in Wales (HC 458) on Monday 29 March 2004.

The Committee published the Government Response as its Third Special Report (HC 708) on Friday 2 July 2004.
