Inquiry into the potential benefits of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics for Wales

The Welsh Affairs Committee has agreed to undertake an inquiry examining the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games in London 2012 and its impact on Wales. This will be a short inquiry with two oral evidence sessions in January 2009, one of which will be held in Wales.

Terms of reference

The inquiry will focus on three key themes:

• The potential for developing sporting excellence in Wales;

• The potential educational benefits in Wales; and

• The likely impact on tourism and other businesses in Wales

The deadline for written submissions is 18 December 2008.  Oral evidence sessions are provisionally scheduled to take place on 19 and 26 January 2009. Submissions should be emailed to [email protected]
