Press Notice No 33
Joint meeting between Welsh Affairs Committee and National Assembly for Wales Committee - red meat industry LCO
The Welsh Affairs Committee and the National Assembly for Wales Committee on the Proposed Red Meat Industry LCO have agreed to hold an informal joint meeting by video-link to exchange information about their scrutiny of the red meat industry LCO.
The date of the meeting is to be confirmed, but will take place after the Assembly committee has finished taking its evidence, and before the Welsh Affairs Committee’s evidence session with UK and devolved ministers.
The meeting will allow the Assembly committee to describe the conclusions it has reached about the proposed Order and to raise any outstanding issues, which the Welsh Affairs Committee will be able to use to inform its own evidence session, scheduled for 15 December.
The Chairman of the Welsh Affairs Committee, Dr Hywel Francis MP, said:
“My hope is to make informal discussions with Assembly ministers and visits to the Assembly a regular feature of my committee’s work on LCOs. I am always happy to discuss the work of the committee with all AMs, irrespective of political party. “
Mick Bates AM, Chair of the National Assembly’s committee, said:
“I am very pleased the Welsh Affairs Committee has accepted my proposal for a joint meeting by video-link. I wish to take advantage of all forms of communication available to our respective committees in order for the scrutiny process to be as robust as possible.”
