Carers LCO - Joint meeting between the Welsh Affairs Committee and National Assembly for Wales Committee
Members of the Welsh Affairs Committee and the National Assembly for Wales Committee on the Carers Legislative Competence Order (LCO) today held an informal joint meeting, by video-link.
Members shared views and discussed evidence gathered by both committees on the latest LCO, which sets out provisions enabling the Assembly to improve support for unpaid carers.
The committee chairs, Dr Hywel Francis MP and Dr Dai Lloyd AM, have already met informally on 25 February to discuss joint working arrangements.
Commenting after today's meeting, Dr Francis said, "It is important to establish effective working practices with colleagues in the Assembly as part of the routine of LCO scrutiny, and today's meeting is an example of how this can work. It was a very constructive exchange of views on a very important policy development to support the 350,000 carers in Wales".
Dr Dai Lloyd supported these comments and described the meeting as, "an informative and informal meeting involving a general sharing of information on a vitally important subject".
