APPOINTMENT OF LORD TURNER OF ECCHINSWELL AS CHAIRMAN OF THE FINANCIAL SERVICES AUTHORITY
APPOINTMENT OF CHARLIE BEAN AS DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF THE BANK OF ENGLAND
At its meeting today (
Wednesday 2 July), the Treasury Committee agreed its Fourteenth and Fifteenth Reports of Session 2007–08 entitled Appointment of Lord Turner of Ecchinswell as Chairman of the Financial Services Authority, and Appointment of Charlie Bean as Deputy Governor of the Bank of England.
Following the Committee's meeting to adopt the Reports, the Chairman of the Committee, John McFall MP, said: “In order to avoid market uncertainty, I am announcing today with the Treasury Committee’s agreement that the Reports to be published next week unanimously endorse the appointments of Lord Turner as Chairman of the FSA and of Charlie Bean as Deputy Governor of the Bank of England.”
The Committee’s Reports will be published on
Thursday 10 July at 11.00 am as House of Commons Paper Nos. 916–I and 917–I.
