FORTHCOMING EVIDENCE SESSION
Appointment of the Deputy Governor of the Bank of England
The Treasury Committee will take oral evidence from Mr Charles Bean about his appointment as the Deputy-Governor of the Bank of England on
Wednesday 2 July 2008 at 3.30pm.
The Committee’s decision to hold an appointment hearing follows the announcement on 19 June 2008 that Her Majesty the Queen has been pleased to approve, under the Bank of England Act 1998, that Mr Charles Bean be appointed Deputy-Governor of the Bank of England for a period of 5 years.
The Committee has sent a questionnaire to Mr Charles Bean about his priorities as Deputy Governor and how he intends to develop the Bank’s monetary analysis work. The Deputy Governor’s answer to the questionnaire will be available to the press and the public at the start of the evidence session.
The meeting is scheduled to take place in the Wilson room in Portcullis House. Those wishing to attend the meetings should check the venue by contacting the House of Commons Public Information Office on 020 7219 4272 on the day before the hearing.
The Committee is expected to publish a short Report relating to Mr Bean’s appointment as Deputy Governor following the evidence session.
