SCHOOL TRANSPORT

The Committee will hold a further oral evidence on its School Transport inquiry as follows:

Wednesday 3rd March 2004 at 2.45 pm. The session will hear from Cheshire County Council and the Department for Education and Skills on the transport implications of the forthcoming draft bill on school transport. The witnesses will be:

2.45 pm Rt Hon Charles Clarke MP, Secretary of State,   Department for Education and Skills

3.30 pm Garth Goddard, County Transport Co-ordinator, Cheshire County Council

CARS OF THE FUTURE

The Committee will finish taking oral evidence on its Cars of the Future inquiry as follows:

Wednesday 3rd March 2004 at 4.15 pm. The session will hear from the Department for Trade and Industry about how technology should be used to create cleaner and greener vehicles. The witness will be:

Rt Hon Jacqui Smith MP, Minister of State for Industry and the Regions and Deputy Minister for Women and Equality.

Wednesday 10th March 2004 at 2.45 pm. The session will hear from agencies, the Department for Transport and HM Treasury about how technology should be used to create cleaner and safer vehicles. The witnesses will be:

2.45pm Energy Saving Trust ; Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership

3.30pm David Jamieson MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of  State, Department for Transport

 John Healey MP, Economic Secretary, HM Treasury

The evidence sessions will take place in public, unless otherwise decided by the Committee. Because the meetings may be moved from the Palace of Westminster to Portcullis House, those wishing to attend the meetings should check the venue by contacting the Committee Office Information Line on 020 7219 2033 on the day before the hearings.
