INQUIRY INTO THE FUTURE PROSPECTS FOR THE UK STEEL INDUSTRY
The Committee has decided to undertake an inquiry into the problems faced by the UK steel industry in the current economic climate and its prospects for the future. The Committee would welcome written submissions on all or any of the following issues:
The underlying reasons for the current problems facing the UK steel industry:
The competitiveness of the UK steel industry as a whole;
Current and future demand for UK steel products, at home and abroad;
Developments in world markets for steel products; and
The role of the Government in the development of a competitive UK steel industry.
Written evidence should submitted to the Clerk at the above address by Friday 25 April. The Committee intends to take oral evidence on Wednesday 7 May. Further details will be announced in due course.
