Following up the Committee’s June 2006 report, Trade and Investment Opportunities with India, tomorrow's evidence session will explore:
developments in the bilateral UK-India trade and investment relationship;
the effect of the new UKTI strategy focusing on key emerging markets;
successes in bringing down barriers, and barriers which still that persist;
progress in the UK-India JETCO (the Joint Economic and Trade Committee), and related matters.
The UK-India Business Council (www.ukibc.com) is the new name for the Indo-British Partnership Network, which recently received greater funding to support its activities and become the focal point for the bilateral trade relationship. The Committee will be looking into UKIBC’s priorities for the year ahead, and its plans for expanding bilateral trade and investment ties.
The session will be open to the public on a first come, first served basis. There is no system for the prior reservation of seats in Committee Rooms. It is advisable to allow about 20 minutes to pass through security checks.
