DEBATING DEPARTMENTAL OBJECTIVES AND ANNUAL REPORTS
PUBLICATION OF REPORT
The House of Commons Modernisation Committee will publish its Second Report of Session 2007-08,
Debating departmental objectives and annual reports, together with written evidence and the proceedings of the Committee relating to the Report, as HC 530, at 11am on Wednesday 7 May.
The Report welcomes the Government's desire to establish a more systematic and effective scrutiny of departmental performance, but recognises that the time available for debates on the floor of the House is limited and already subject to many competing pressures. The Committee proposes practical measures through which scrutiny of departmental objectives could be made more effective within the limited time available
There will be no embargoed advance copies. Copies of the Report will be placed in the Press Gallery following publication and may be purchased in The Stationery Office Bookshop or ordered from The Stationery Office by telephone (08457 023474). The Report will also be made available on the Committee's website on the day of publication.
