Announcement 7 of Session 2007-08

13 December 2007

Experience of the Scottish Elections

Public Evidence Session at the House of Commons

The Scottish Affairs Committee will hold its second oral evidence session on The Experience of the Scottish Elections at the House of Commons at 11.00 am on Tuesday 15 January 2008

The witnesses will be:

Ron Gould CM, and
Michael Boda, Scottish Elections Review Team

On 23 October, the Independent Review of the 3 May 2007 elections in Scotland was published. The Review, commissioned by The Electoral Commission and led by Canadian elections expert Ron Gould, found that the voter was 'treated as an afterthought' in the planning and organisation of the elections. This evidence session will examine how voters' interests can be protected and the role of the Scotland Office in administering elections in Scotland.
