Following the announcement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in his pre-Budget report, that a tax stamp may be put on all bottles of whisky sold, the Scottish Affairs Committee will undertake an inquiry into the possible consequences for the Scotch whisky industry of such an action.

The Committee will hold its first public evidence session at 2.15 pm on Wednesday 3 March, when the witnesses will be the Scotch Whisky Association. 

Further evidence sessions are planned, and details will be announced shortly.

The Committee welcomes written evidence from interested parties by Monday 1 March.
