CUSTOMS SERVICES IN SCOTLAND

The Committee has agreed to take evidence on 1 July  from HM Customs and Excise and the Scottish Drug Enforcement Agency on aspects of customs provision in Scotland in a follow-up to its Report in May 2002 (HC 782).  The Committee will be seeking information on the nature and level of the drugs problem in Scotland, the sources of supply of drugs (particularly Class A drugs) and the extent to which new routes of entry into Scotland have been developed and how this situation is managed.  The Committee will also review implementation of its recommendations, including those commenting on illegal meat imports, the location of detector dogs, staffing and resources. Written evidence is invited from interested parties by Monday 2 June.

SCOTLAND OFFICE DEPARTMENTAL REPORT 2003

The Scottish Affairs Committee has agreed to take evidence from the Rt Hon Helen Liddell MP, Secretary of State for Scotland, on the Scotland Office Departmental Report 2003, at 1415 on Tuesday 17 June in Committee Room 19 at the House of Commons.
