TOWARDS A NON-CARBON FUEL ECONOMY: RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND DEMONSTRATION

Publication Of Report

The Science and Technology Committee will publish its Fourth Report of Session 2002-03 (HC  55-I) at 0001 hours on Thursday 3 April 2003. 

The Report looks at the public and private expenditure on energy research, development and demonstration and its coordination.  It looks at the state of development of different energy technologies and how they should be prioritised, including nuclear fission and fusion.  The Committee also considers obstacles to the development of new technologies, both infrastructural and regulatory.

Embargoed copies of the Report will be available to the media and witnesses from 1100 on Wednesday 2 April, provided they ask for copies in advance.

The minutes of evidence to the inquiry will be published separately as HC 55-II on Monday 7 April.

1. Under the terms of Standing Order No. 152 the Committee is empowered to examine the "expenditure, policy and administration of the Office of Science and Technology and its associated public bodies". The Committee was appointed on 12 November 2001.
