CARBON CAPTURE AND STORAGE

PUBLICATION OF GOVERNMENT RESPONSE

The Science and Technology Committee will publish its Third Special Report of Session 2005-06, Meeting UK Energy and Climate Needs: The Role of Carbon Capture and Storage: Government Response to the Committee's First Report of Session 2005-06, (HC 1036) at 11.00 am on Thursday 27 April 2006. Embargoed copies will not be available in advance.

Copies of the Report will be available for collection from 7 Millbank, from the time of publication. Copies can also be obtained from TSO outlets and from the Parliamentary Bookshop, 12 Bridge Street, Parliament Square, London SW1A 2JX (020 7219 3890) by quoting the appropriate HC number.

Notes to editors:

• Under the terms of Standing Order No. 152 the Committee is empowered to examine the “expenditure, policy and administration of the Office of Science and Technology and its associated public bodies”. The Committee was appointed on 19 July 2005.

• The Committee announced this inquiry on 21 July 2005 in press notice No 4 of Session 2005-06. Evidence sessions were held on Wednesday: 16 November when evidence was heard from Government officials and UKCCSC and BGS; 7 December when evidence was heard from industrialists and Environmental NGO’s; and 14 December 2005 when evidence was heard from the Minister of State for Energy and Government officials.

• The Committee published its findings as the First Report of Session 2005-06, Meeting UK Energy and Climate Needs: The Role of Carbon Capture and Storage [HC 578-I] on 9 February 2006.
