FIRST PUBLIC ORAL EVIDENCE SESSION FOR THE REGULATORY REFORM COMMITTEE

MINISTER AND THE BETTER REGULATION EXECUTIVE TO APPEAR


In July 2007 the Regulatory Reform Committee acquired the additional power to examine and report on 'matters relating to regulatory reform'. As the first exercise of this new responsibility the Committee will, in a one-off session, take oral evidence from:

Mr Pat McFadden, Minister of State, Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, William Sargent, Executive Chair and Jitinder Kohli, Chief Executive of the Better Regulation Executive.

The purpose of the session is to take stock of the Government's regulatory reform agenda, including initiatives currently underway and progress made to date.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday 29 January 2008 at 9.45 am in Committee Room 19 at the House of Commons. (Room subject to change)

Access to committee rooms in the Palace of Westminster is via St Stephen's Entrance. It is advisable to allow about 10 minutes to pass through security checks. There is no system for the prior reservation of seats in the Committee Rooms.

As Committee Rooms are liable to change, those attending are advised to check the room location on arrival.

The Regulatory Reform Committee is appointed to examine and report to the House on draft Legislative Reform Orders under the Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act 2006 and matters relating to regulatory reform. Its full remit is set out in S.O. No. 141.
