Draft Regulatory Reform (Special Occasions Licensing) Order 2002

Earlier today, the Government laid before Parliament the draft Regulatory Reform (Special Occasions Licensing) Order 2002, under the procedure laid down by the Regulatory Reform Act 2001.  The draft order would extend permitted hours for on-licensed premises and registered clubs, from the end of normal permitted hours on New Year’s Eve through to the beginning of normal permitted hours on New Year’s Day, for all future years.

The Regulatory Reform Committee has examined the draft order in accordance with its Standing Order, and has made its formal recommendation to the House that the draft order be approved.

The Committee’s full Report on the draft Order will be published at 2.00 pm on Wednesday 18th December. The Report (the Committee’s Fourth Report of Session 2002-03) will be available from all Stationery Office outlets (Ref HC 193). It will also be available on the Committee’s website ( http://www.parliament.uk/parliamentary_committees/regulatory_reform_committee.cfm) from 3.30pm on the day of publication.
