PASC TO HOLD ANNUAL HEARING WITH OMBUDSMAN

The Public Administration Select Committee (PASC) will this week take evidence from Ann Abraham, the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO). The session is the Committee’s regular annual survey of the work of the Ombudsman.

The PHSO and her office exist to provide a service to the public by undertaking independent investigations into complaints that government departments, a range of other public bodies in the UK, and the NHS in England have not acted properly or fairly or have provided a poor service.

Topics that the hearing may cover include:

• The performance of the Office of the PHSO

• The recent transition to a new NHS complaints system

• The performance of the public bodies investigated by the PHSO

• The constitutional position of the PHSO

The evidence session will be held on Thursday 5 November at 10.00am in the Thatcher Room, Portcullis House.
