PASC TO HEAR FROM CABINET SECRETARY SIR GUS O’DONNELL
QUESTIONS LIKELY TO COVER A WIDE RANGE OF ISSUES, INCLUDING WHITEHALL LEAKS
The Public Administration Select Committee (PASC) is to take evidence from Sir Gus O’Donnell, the Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Home Civil Service, in its regular annual survey of the work of the Cabinet Office and civil service issues more widely.
The evidence session will be held on
Thursday 11 December at
10.00am in the
Thatcher Room, Portcullis House.
In light of recent events, the Committee is also likely to raise with Sir Gus the issue of unauthorised disclosures of information in government. The Committee’s Chairman, Tony Wright MP, said:
“PASC is well-placed to give detailed consideration to the whole issue of how Whitehall deals with leaks and other unauthorised releases of information. We shall want to raise the matter with Sir Gus O’Donnell when he appears before us, and I anticipate that the Committee will want to take further evidence on this matter early in the New Year. I do not expect our work to cut across that of the Committee announced this afternoon by the Speaker of the House.”
