PASC TO HEAR ABOUT GOOD GOVERNMENT FROM FORMER MINISTERS DAVID BLUNKETT, KEN CLARKE, PETER LILLEY AND NICK RAYNSFORD

The Public Administration Select Committee (PASC) is holding a session on its Good Government inquiry with several prominent former Ministers, each of whom has extensive experience of government. The Committee will hear from Rt Hon David Blunkett MP, Rt Hon Kenneth Clarke MP, Rt Hon Peter Lilley MP and Rt Hon Nick Raynsford MP.

The session is expected to focus on the political€”rather than administrative€”aspects of achieving good government. It is likely to cover topics including:

€ The nature of Cabinet government

€ The role of ministers

€ The relationship between ministers and civil servants

€ The impact of over-centralisation on effective policy delivery

€ Improving how policies are implemented

The session will be held on Thursday 23 October at 10.00am in the Thatcher Room, Portcullis House.
