Public Administration Select Committee: Press Notice

14 May 2008

PASC TO TALK TO BUSINESS AND CAMPAIGNERS ABOUT ACCESS, INFLUENCE AND LOBBYING GOVERNMENT

The Public Administration Select Committee (PASC) will this week continue its inquiry into lobbying when it takes evidence from the following representatives of major corporate interests and campaigning organisations:

  • Chris Brinsmead, President, Astra Zeneca UK
  • Tom Kelly, Corporate and Public Affairs Director, BAA
  • Lucy Neville-Rolfe, Corporate and Legal Affairs Director, Tesco plc
  • Tim Hancock, Campaigns Director, Amnesty International
  • John Sauven, Director, Greenpeace
  • Owen Espley, Corporate Power Campaigner, Friends of the Earth

In this session, PASC will explore the balance of access and influence between big business and other stakeholders; how business and campaigners seek to ensure that those lobbying government on their behalf behave ethically; use of public affairs consultants; and whether the public perception of improper influence warrants either tighter regulation or greater transparency.

The evidence session will take place on Thursday 15 May at 10.00 am in the Thatcher Room, Portcullis House.
