PASC Inquiry into Propriety and Honours: Programme Update
On 27 March 2006 the Public Administration Select Committee announced a pause into its inquiry into propriety and honours, “to allow the police to tell us whether there is a realistic prospect of charges being brought” in relation to allegations about the sale of peerages. The Committee has arranged to meet the police and CPS, in private, on 15th May for further discussions. It will decide how to proceed (including whether further delay is justified) after those discussions.
If the Committee decides to continue immediately, the programme will be as follows:
Tuesday 16th May
10.00am: Propriety and Honours: Sir Gus O’Donnell (at 10.00) and Lord Stevenson, Lord Hurd (at 11.00)
Tuesday 23rd May
A.M (Time to be confirmed): Propriety and Honours: Lord Levy and others
Thursday 25th May
10.00am: Propriety and Honours: Witnesses to be confirmed
The Committee expects to be able to make further announcements after the meeting with the police on 15th May, but will be unable to add to this information until that point.
Full details of all the Committee’s inquiries can be found on the PASC website at
