Procedure Committee

Session 2002-03        6 November 2003

PUBLICATION OF REPORT: SESSIONAL ORDERS AND RESOLUTIONS

Sessional Orders and Resolutions, together with oral and written evidence and the Proceedings of the Committee relating to the Report, will be published as the Third Report from the Procedure Committee, Session 2002-03, HC 855, at 11 am on Wednesday 19 November.

There will be no advance copies and no press conference.

Copies of the Report will be placed in the Press Gallery at the time of publication and may be  purchased in The Stationery Office Bookshops or ordered from The Stationery Office by telephone (08457 023474). The Report will also be made available on these pages on the day of publication.

The Sessional Orders and Resolutions (six in number) relate to elections, witnesses, the Metropolitan Police and the Votes and Proceedings; they are passed by the House at the beginning of each Session.  The Committee has taken evidence on whether they should be abolished or updated, and in particular whether the Order requiring the Metropolitan Police Commissioner to prevent obstructions hindering access to the House by Members of Parliament was appropriate.  The oral evidence taken in July and September is already published on these pages.
