PUBLIC EVIDENCE SESSION: EARLY DAY MOTIONS
The House of Commons Procedure Committee will hold the first public evidence session in connection with the inquiry into
Early Day Motions (EDMs) as follows:
Tuesday 28 March 4.15pm Committee Room 20. Witnesses: Norman Baker MP, Rt Hon Douglas Hogg MP, and Mr David Kidney MP
An uncorrected version of the transcript will appear on the Committee's on these pages within about a week of the date of the session.
Likely topics of discussion are:
the uses currently made of EDMs by Members and others;
what opportunities presently exist, and what others might be introduced, to allow EDMs to be brought before and debated by the House;
whether the existing procedures for the tabling and printing of EDMs are appropriate; and
the merits of allowing the tabling of EDMs, and of amendments and added names to them, by electronic means.
