Agreed, That the oral and written evidence received to date relating to the inquiry into the Fire and Rescue Service, be reported to the House and printed.

The Role and Effectiveness of the Standards Board for England: Government Response

Draft Special Report [ Response to the Seventh Report from the Committee in the previous Session (The Role and Effectiveness of the Standards Board for England)], proposed by the Chairman, brought up, read the first and second time, and agreed to.

Resolved, That the Report be the Third Special Report of the Committee to the House.

Ordered, That the Chairman make the report to the House.

Ordered, That the Government response to the Seventh Report from the Committee in the previous Session be appended to the Report..-(The Chairman).

Oral Evidence Session for Is there a future for Regional Government?

Neil Kingham, Director-General, Local Government and Fire Group, Mark Klienman, Urban Policy Unit, and Andrew Campbell, Director Regional Co-ordination Unit, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, gave oral evidence; and

Bob Linnard, Director of Local & Regional Transport, Department for Transport, and Stephen Speed, Director - Regions, Department for Trade and Industry, gave oral evidence.
