Session 2002-03  19 March 2003 PUBLICATION OF REPORT

Session 2002-03  19 March 2003 PUBLICATION OF REPORT

(Not to be published in full, or in part, in any form before 10.00 am on Thursday 20 March 2003)

The Committee on the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister: Housing, Planning, Local Government and the Regions will be publishing its report on The Licensing Bill (Lords) and the Evening Economy on Thursday 20 March at 10.00 am.

Christine Russell MP, Chairman of the Urban Affairs Sub-committee, said:

"The Urban Affairs Sub-committee has been conducting an inquiry into the Evening Economy and the Urban Renaissance. The inquiry  has been wide-ranging and the Committee will produce a full report later this year.

During the course of the inquiry it became apparent that there are issues relating to the evening economy which arise from the Licensing Bill (Lords) currently before Parliament.  We considered it appropriate to produce an interim report which deals with some of  those issues. The purpose of this report, therefore,  is to aid the House in its consideration of the Licensing Bill (Lords)."

The text of the Report (HC 541) will be available on the Committee's website from 3.30 pm on the day of publication.  Alternatively, copies may be purchased from The Stationery Office (tel: 0845 7 02 34 74).

If you would  like a copy of any House of Commons publications, and did not submit written or oral evidence to the relevant inquiry, then you may purchase them from The Stationery Office, General enquiries tel no.0870 600 5522, or access them via the Committee homepage on the Internet. http://www.parliament.uk/parliamentary_committees/odpm/odpm_reports___publications.cfm
