As of 27 June 2006 the Committee on the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister: Housing, Planning, Local Government and the Regions has become the Communities and Local Government Committee.
The ODPM Committee was appointed by the House of Commons on July 13th 2005. Its purpose is to scrutinise the work of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister: Housing, Planning, Local Government and the Regions. Following the constitutional changes announced on 5 May 2006, the Department for Communities and Local Government succeeded the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. A motion to amend Standing Order No 152 in order to rename the Committee was put before the House and agreed on 27 June 2006. A new website will be available in the coming weeks. The Committee's membership of eleven is made up exclusively of Members of Parliament. It is appointed for the duration of the Parliament.

Planning Performance - The Committee has received a letter from Yvette Cooper MP, Minister for Housing and Planning giving an update of the Department's planning casework performance for all First Secretary of State cases.
Specialist Advisers - Expressions of Interest Sought: The Committee is looking to expand the pool of those on whom it may call for expert advice and assistance with committee inquiries. Expressions of interest are sought from candidates who wish to be considered for appointment during the current Parliamentary Session (ends November 2006).
