The Select Committee on Animals in Scientific Procedures published its report on Wednesday 24th July 2002.

The Report was debated in the House of Lords on Friday 17th October 2003.
The Report concluded that animal experiments are necessary to develop and test medicines but more should be done to fund and promote alternative methods.
The Committee was appointed March 2001 and was formally dissolved upon the publication of its report.
