MPS TO QUESTION PRIME MINISTER

MPs on the Liaison Committee have today announced details for their forthcoming evidence session with the Prime Minister.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday 6 February at 0900 hrs. The session usually lasts for up to two and a half hours with MPs expected to question the Prime Minister on a range of domestic and international affairs.

Questioning will be based on a limited number of themes selected in advance. Notice of the questions is not given to the Prime Minister.

The session will be held in the Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House and will be open to members of the press with Houses of Parliament passes and other passholders. A viewing room for non-passholders from the press and public will be available nearby in Portcullis House.

The Boothroyd Room is equipped with television cameras for broadcasting. The session will also be available on Parliament’s internal television network and will be webcast live on www.parliamentlive.tv.

An uncorrected transcript of this hearing will be placed on the internet at www.parliament.uk as soon as possible following the evidence session.

1.This is the tenth session of oral evidence given to the Committee by Tony Blair. The session is part of a series of recent reforms to the select committee system aimed at strengthening parliamentary scrutiny of government.
