Publication of Report
The Liaison Committee will publish its report on 'Pre-appointment hearings by select committees' at 10.00am on Wednesday 5 March. This will be the Committee's First Report of Session 2007-08 (HC 384).
The Report responds to the Government's initiative in the Governance of Britain Green Paper in proposing pre-appointment and confirmation hearings. The Minister for the Cabinet Office, Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP, wrote to the Committee on 23 January 2008 with a list of posts that should be subject to pre-appointment scrutiny (see
http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200708/cmselect/cmliaisn/memo/hearings/m1.htm). This Report provides the Committee's response.
The report will also be available on the internet at the time of publication and copies may be purchased from the Parliamentary Bookshop (12 Bridge Street, Westminster, London SW1A 2JX, Tel 020 7219 3890) or The Stationery Office (Parliamentary Hotline 0845 7023 474).
