The Committee on the Lord Chancellor's Department will hold the final part of its public evidence sessions on the Courts Bill [Lords], postponed from Tuesday 18 March, on Thursday 27 March. The purpose of the session is to examine officials from the Lord Chancellor's Department and identify the main issues which should be considered when the Bill reaches the Commons. The Committee has not requested written evidence and no report is envisaged at this stage; but the Committee will be publishing the transcripts of the sessions at the earliest practicable opportunity.
Role of the Lord Chancellor's Department
In addition, the Committee will hold a public evidence session with Mr Erik Jurgens, Rapporteur on the office of the Lord Chancellor in the constitutional system of the United Kingdom for the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
