Future Programme of Witnesses

The Committee on the Lord Chancellor's Department will hold further public evidence sessions on the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (CAFCASS).

Details of the sessions are as follows:

Note: The Committee's inquiry into CAFCASS was launched on 13 February 2003. Written submissions were invited from interested parties to be received by 13 March 2003, and those memoranda ordered by the Committee to be printed are available on the Committee's website.
The first public session took place on Tuesday 8 April. Evidence was taken from Mr Kit Chivers, HM Chief Inspector, and Mr Arran Poyser , Director, CAFCASS Inspection Unit, HM Magistrates' Courts Service Inspectorate (MCSI) and the Rt Hon Dame Elizabeth Butler-Sloss DBE, President, and Mr Justice Johnson, Senior Judge, High Court Family Division, His Honour Judge Martin Allweis, Designated Family Judge, Northern Circuit, and District Judge Nicholas Crichton, Inner London Family Proceedings Court.  The transcript of this evidence session will be available shortly on the Committee's website.
