The Government's response to the Committee's report on CAFCASS was laid before Parliament yesterday. It comprises a response from Ministers to the issues directed at the Government and a response from the Board of CAFCASS addressing the issues put to CAFCASS itself.

Commenting on publication of the Government's response, Rt Hon Alan Beith MP, Chairman of the Committee, said:

"We are glad that the Government has accepted the Committee's recommendation that there be a fundamental review of the Board. However, it is not at all clear what their response is to CAFCASS's need for resources, which is spelt out clearly in CAFCASS's own response. We will be looking for answers on this and other questions in the debate next week."
