1. Declaration of Interests

Daniel Kawczynski declared his interests in accordance with the Resolution of the House of 13 July 1992, as follows:

Sponsorship or financial or material support

Funding for mail survey of my constituents by MIC (Midlands Industrial Council). (Registered 7 November 2006)

Gifts, benefits and hospitality (UK)

I was sponsored by High and Mighty clothing company for taking part in the London Marathon in April 2007. The sponsorship consisted of a donation made directly to a local charity, and vouchers of a value below the registrable threshold for my own use in the company's stores. (Registered 30 May 2007)

The Committee considered this matter.

3. Devolution: a decade on inquiry

Resolved, That the Committee visit Edinburgh, Cardiff, Newcastle and the Channel Islands, in connection with its inquiry into Devolution: a decade on.

4. Towards Effective Sentencing

Resolved, That the Committee take further oral evidence from Lord Carter of Coles, criminal justice stakeholders and the Ministry of Justice on Wednesday 12 December.

5. Protection of Personal Data

Resolved, That the Committee take oral evidence from Mr Richard Thomas, Information Commissioner, and Mr David Smith, Deputy Information Commissioner, on Tuesday 4 December.

6. The Creation of the Ministry of Justice

Draft Special Report (The Creation of the Ministry of Justice: Government's Response to Committee's Sixth Report of Session 2006-07), proposed by the Chairman, brought up, read the first and second time, and agreed to.

The Government's response to the Sixth Report from the Committee in Session 2006-07 was appended to the Report.

Resolved, That the Report, be the First Special Report of the Committee to the House.

Ordered, That the Chairman make the Report to the House.
